چکیده
Analytical methods for solving eigenvalue problems involving real symmetric 3 × $$ 3\times matrices are computationally efficient compared to iterative approaches, but not numerically robust when two of the eigenvalues coalesce. Analysis associated characteristic polynomial reveals an alternative form definition discriminant in terms a sum squares which is susceptible numerical difficulties conventional methods. Expressions angle used derived simple combinations matrix invariants and discriminant. The proposed method improves over previously analytical schemes comparable speed with standard method, making it viable alternative.

A Portable Parallel N - body Solver 3 3 Implementation of the Direct Solver
We present parallel solutions for direct and fast n-body solvers written in the ZPL language. We describe the direct solver, compare its performance against a sequential C program, and show performance results for two very di erent parallel machines: the KSR-2 and the Paragon. We also discuss the implementation of the fast solver in ZPL, including factors pertinent to data movement.
متن کاملA Scalable Eigenvalue Solver for Symmetric Tridiagonal Matrices
This paper describes a parallel eigenvalue solver for symmetric tridiagonal matrices, as implemented on an nCUBE-2 hypercube multicomputer. The algorithm is based on the split-merge technique, which uses Laguerre's iteration and exploits the separation property in order to create subtasks that can be solved independently. Performance of an initial parallel implementation of the algorithm was ne...

متن کاملdirect design of 3-d ducts, using the euler equations
in this work, a direct design approach for designing a surface shape (inverse design problem) has been developed, in which both the target surface pressure and the unknown nodal coordinates appear explicitly in the formulations. the final discretized form of the governing equations (unified formulation) can be used for both analysis and shape design problems. in this work, shape design problems...
متن کاملA stable, direct solver for the gradient equation
A new finite element discretization of the equation grad p = g is introduced. This discretization gives rise to an invertible system that can be solved directly, requiring a number of operations proportional to the number of unknowns. We prove an optimal error estimate, and furthermore show that the method is stable with respect to perturbations of the right-hand side g. We discuss a number of ...
